I have been overweight most of my life but the last few years I kept gaining and gaining.  I tried many different diets, but nothing worked.  My asthma and arthritis became unbearable.  My social life and family outings were at a standstill.  I was becoming more and more frustrated and annoyed at myself.  I knew I had to do something fast.  I am blessed to have five beautiful grandchildren and I want to be around and do things with them as they grow up.  I was at my wit's end until one day my doctor told me to look into having bariatric surgery.  I had no idea what he was talking about, but like I did when ever I heard there was something out there to help me lose weight, I checked it out.

At the Long Island Bariatric Center, I met the most wonderful and caring professionals who were there to help me.  After a few months of counseling and taking different tests to see if I could handle the surgery, an appointment was set up.  I even was able to lose a few pounds  before the operation.  I had the lap band surgery, and I had no problems at all.  I had no pain and I never had to take the pain pills that were prescribed for me.  I was up and around in three days and back to work within a week.

It is six months now since the surgery and I am sixty-five pounds less than I was last year at this time. I feel terrific!!!  It is so wonderful to have family and friends tell me how good I look.  My asthma hasn't bothered me at all, not even in the cold weather as it did before, and my arthritis has greatly improved.  I am not a "stay-at-home" any more.  I go out and I enjoy the family events and trips.

If anyone is even considering having this surgery, I highly recommend that you make an appointment right away with the Long Island Bariatric Center and have Dr. Nick Gabriel perform the operation.  He is just wonderful, and he has made my life so much more healthier and enjoyable now.  He has changed my whole life around, and I can't thank him enough.  I know he will help you, too, so hurry up and make that appointment.
